The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) elected Attorney Reynaldo C. Laserna as its president for the next three years. As the president of UPAA, he is now part of the Board of Regents which is the governing body of the entire University of the Philippines.
“It’s an association of all UP alumni. If you are an alumnus or alumna of the UP system, you become a member of the association. But you have to pay your annual dues so that you will be a regular member,” Atty. Laserna said.
Moreover, the UPAA helps the UP administration in running the universities – UP Diliman, Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Visayas, Mindanao, Los Baños, and Open University.
Meanwhile, he also stated that he will not use his position and power to influence those people working for the UP Admission.
“If our alumni get admitted in UP, it’s because they deserve to be admitted without any intervention,” Atty. Laserna explained.
With his election as the UPAA president, he gets exposed to new ideas which can help in improving Atheneum and this exposure will validate what the school has been doing.
“As the member of the Board of Regents, I get exposed to new ideas about running a school,” said Attorney.
