Non-Academic Formation
To complement and support academic formation, ATHENEUM will continue to offer non-academic programs adapted to our context. These formation programs are meant to develop the student’s spiritual, social, and character development. Non-academic formation includes the following:
Homeroom Program
The Homeroom Program is a non-academic program that seeks to develop the student’s personality through an understanding of self and environment and discover/enhance the aptitude/interests of the student in preparing him/her for the world of work, higher academic or non-academic studies.
The homeroom adviser assumes the role of a facilitator of learning and is expected to generate a congenial adviser-teacher relationship during the homeroom meetings. This will allow him/her to know each student more intimately and for the students to understand better his/her teacher.
Homeroom class is conducted during the first 15 minutes of the class period every day (Monday-Friday). Homeroom is also a venue for various class activities: Values of the Month Integration Program, prayer and reflection, daily monitoring of attendance, distribution of circulars, retrieval of reply slips, self-care activities, and information dissemination for other school activities and announcements.
Spiritual Formation
ATHENEUM will continue to make students and the whole community aware and feel God’s undying love for everyone through the different offerings and activities like:
a. Campus Ministry Program – Our school campus ministry program provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can explore their faith, engage in meaningful discussions, and cultivate a sense of community. Through a blend of spiritual activities, service opportunities, and open dialogues, we aim to foster personal growth, empathy, and a deeper understanding of one's beliefs while fostering connections that extend beyond the classroom.
b. Community Mass – Join us for a heartwarming community mass held at our school’s gym, where students, teachers, and families come together to celebrate unity and spiritual growth. This cherished event fosters a sense of togetherness, as we reflect, pray, and share in a moment of collective inspiration and faith.
c. (for Grades 6, 10, 12, and Faculty) – Our school's retreat program offers students a unique opportunity to step outside their regular academic routine and engage in a focused period of personal growth, reflection, and team building. Through a series of carefully curated activities, workshops, and discussions, students can recharge, deepen their connections with peers, and develop valuable life skills in a relaxed and inspiring setting.
Social Action Program
As part of our school’s vision and mission, ATHENEUM will involve our students in how to be caring and socially-sensitive Amcanians. The school aims to provide opportunities where the students can be present to other people’s lives especially those who are struggling in varying degrees and in different ways.
Alternative solidarity activities towards Care for People and Care for the Environment will be prepared but not limited to:
a. Christmas Shoebox Project (gift-giving activity for indigent children within the school’s community)
b. Community Engagement and Outreach
c. Call to Action Opportunity (donation drive to support calamity relief efforts)
d. Other advocacy campaigns
